This is a beautiful red silk grosgrain dress by Jean Allen, dating from the 1950s. I’ve had it since the early 1980s. It has a lovely shape to it created by panels which fit well over the bust, cinch in the waist and then flare out towards the hips and down to the knees. The back bodice is slightly lower so you get a nice view of the back. Originally the dress was midi length but I shortened it. Luckily I kept the fabric so you could lengthen it again if you are handy at sewing. As you can see there is some straining at the seams and there are one or two small marks, reflected in the price.
