A beautiful, authentic piece of 1970s studio woodcraft. This pedestal display bowl (or tazza) is hand-turned from solid cedar wood, showing off a gorgeous rich reddish-brown tone and a striking prominent grain. It features a lovely glossy lacquer finish that has taken on a wonderful aged patina over its 50-year history. Provenance & Base Inscription: The raw wood base is hand-inscribed by the artisan maker: Maker: G. Wright Date: February 1975 (Feb '75) Location: Woody Pt (Woody Point, a historic coastal town in Newfoundland, Canada, known for its local artisan craft). Wood Type: Cedar Condition & Features: Authentic Detail: Features a tiny pin-sized hole dead-centre of the base - this is a worm hole from the wood lathe, proving it was genuinely hand-turned by an artisan. Approx 11" diameter, 5" high. Vintage Condition: Good vintage structure with honest surface wear. There are visible light scratches, minor scuffs, and some lacquer wear/crazing to the interior and rim from age and use (please see close-up photos). It adds to its rustic charm! Perfect as a statement entryway key dish, a decorative bowl for dried potpourri, or a styling piece for a mid-century modern, boho, or rustic interior.
