Vintage ceramic preserve/mustard pot by Lancasters Ltd (Hanley, England), featuring the lovely "The Jolly Drover" old English inn scene on the front. Brand/Maker: Lancasters Ltd, Hanley England (Stamped 'English Ware' on the base, model 504). Dimensions (approx.): Height: 9.5 cm, Diameter: 8.5cm Condition: Good vintage condition with some authentic age-related wear. Please note there is a hairline crack running across the metal lid (visible in the photographs), but the lid remains completely robust and functional. There is also some minor staining to the inside corners as expected with an item of this age. Age: Circa 1920s – 1930s. Historical Background: This specific "Lancasters Ltd" backstamp was used by the famous Dresden Works factory in Hanley, Stoke-on-Trent, during the interwar period before the company officially transitioned to becoming Lancaster & Sandland Ltd in 1944.
